Bill Bond

William A. Bond: Conservationist and Hunter

William “Bill” Bond was a rancher, banker and an American big game hunter. His philanthropy is one of the reasons the Red River Valley Museum stands today. A generous donation and the acquisition of his collection of over 130 trophy mounts were instrumental in building our current home.

Bond graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and served in the United States Army in World War II, reaching the rank of major.

After his service in World War II, Bond went on a major hunt every year for the rest of his life. He was the 8th man in the world to have taken all 25 types of North American big game. He received the Dallas Safari Club's Africa Big Game Award in 1969 and 1982, and the club's Outstanding Hunting Achievement Award in 1981.
