Looking Back at 2023

Arts on Display

The 22nd Annual Art Show & Sale was an amazing event that showcased the work of 29 talented artists. The show ran from June 4th to July 15th and featured a wide variety of art styles, from traditional paintings to carved wooden vases. Visitors of the museum were able to explore the creativity and skill of the artists on display and take in the unique pieces of art. Cindy Brabec King was awarded the Electra Waggoner Biggs Best of Show Award for her work “A Quiet Place to Write”.

Educating Generations

The 2022-2023 school year was a great

success for the museum's Free School Tour program. More than 600 students were able to tour the museum. During tours, students had the opportunity to learn about local history, science, and art. The program was so popular that the 2023-2024 school year is already off to a great start with nearly 300 students already scheduled to visit! We are excited to continue providing these educational opportunities to students and look forward to another successful year!

Artist Workshop

Fabulous western artist Lori Jones hosted a two day drawing workshop at the museum this summer. Participants grew their skills and met fellow creatives in this wonderful opportunity! We can't wait to have Lori back for more workshops! Pictured here is Dew Westover working on his masterpiece in class.

Cocktails for a Cause

The Museum Guild has created a new social club that they would love for you to be a part of! The Guild Society has quarterly "Cocktails for a Cause" parties to support the museum AND have a great time!

Summer Art Camp

Lots of kids spent time at the museum this summer! 33 young and eager students attended our "Mini Masters" art camp. These budding artists delved into the visionary works of legends like Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, and Claude Monet. Each day presented a new opportunity for discovery, as they learned about different art movements, techniques, and styles. From bold strokes to delicate brushwork, the campers soaked up a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.

Special Events

The Wright Gallery stayed booked this year! From 1st to 90th birthday parties and even our first wedding, we were honored to host a variety of events that brought in visitors from across the country and abroad! We also partnered with Texoma Alliance to Stop Abuse, Big Brother Big Sister, and Texas A&M Alumni for special events and fundraisers. We love celebrating with our community!

Burgers, Boots, & Brews

In June, we kicked off fundraising for the Waggoner Gallery Redesign with a fun night full of burgers, brews, and the Blaine Gillespie Band! This event was attended by so many community members that want to see history preserved for generations to come.

Texoma Gives

Our biggest annual fundraiser, Texoma Gives, was a success! We were able to raise a grand total of $31,540 with the help of 93 generous donors. These funds are being saved to complete the Waggoner Gallery Remodel. With your help, we hope to begin construction in the next year!

Talented Local Kids

The Third Annual Youth Art Show was a huge success! Over 60 works of art were on display, with 47 artists participating. This event was joined with Kid’s Day at the Museum, a free event that encourages families to learn more about history, science, culture, and art. Thanks to the generous support of community sponsors, $1325 in prizes were awarded to the participants at the grand opening and award ceremony. It was a great day for young artists and their families to appreciate art and have fun!
