2024 Youth Art Show

Theme: Brushing up on History

Artists Ages 5-17 | Entry Deadline: 9-23-2024

  • Imagine traveling back in time to meet incredible people and witness extraordinary events! That's exactly what this theme is all about. We're inviting you to explore the stories of brave individuals and exciting moments from history. Let's dive into the past and create art that tells these amazing tales. Here's how you can do it:

Famous Figures: You can paint, draw, or sculpt portraits of famous people from the past. These could be courageous leaders, inspiring inventors, brilliant artists, or anyone who made a big impact on the world. Show us what makes them special and why they're worth remembering.

Historic Landscapes: Sometimes, the places where these heroes and events took place are just as fascinating. Create art that shows these important locations. Think about battlefields, castles, famous cities, or even a historical home. Use your imagination to bring these places to life.

Old Masters' Techniques: You can learn from the great artists of the past, like Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent van Gogh, or Georgia O'Keeffe. Try out their techniques in your own art. Use their brushstrokes, colors, and styles to create your masterpieces. It's like stepping into their shoes for a while!

Storytelling Through Art: Art is a wonderful way to tell stories. Pick a historical event or hero, and create a scene that captures the moment. Use your creativity to show what's happening and how people felt during that time.

Connect the Past and Present: As you create your artwork, think about how these stories from history are still important today. How do they influence our world? How can we learn from them? Your art can help others see the connections between the past and the present.

Remember, history is like a treasure chest filled with exciting stories and extraordinary people. This theme is your chance to open that chest and share what you find through your art. You might even inspire others to learn more about these incredible heroes and moments from the past!
